  • Every first Sunday of the month we offer a workshop open to anyone who wants to learn more about beer, how it’s made and how to properly taste it. It lasts 120 minutes and covers all the fundamental information about beer. You will taste and analyse four taster glasses (12.5 cl) of beer with an expert.

    The workshops take place every first Sunday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    Tailor-made workshops are possible, with a minimum of six participants.

    Where to purchase tickets

    You will learn:

    • The fundamentals: Ingredient, how the beer gets its colour, bitterness, carbonation, etc.
    • The history: The three main “families” of beer, who invented it, how the 20th century influenced beer making, etc.
    • Tasting: The different steps when tasting beer, the specific vocabulary for each step, the different characteristics to pay attention to, etc.
    • Brewing: How is beer brewed? What determines the alcohol level and taste?

    Advantages:

    • A comprehensive workshop, covering the brewing process to tasting;
    • Lead by a local beer expert;
    • A unique tasting experience;
    • A small group experience (6 to 15 people);
    • Four taster glasses of 12.5 cl;
    • A complimentary tasting booklet for future reference;

  • If you feel lost among the different styles like IPA, lager, lambic, stout, porter, imperial IPA, etc. or you just want to enhance your level of knowledge on how to tell them apart, t hen this workshop is for you. In 120 minutes the Intermediate workshop will cover a wide range of beer styles. Most of the existing beer styles will be covered while you taste and analyse eight small taster glasses between 8 cl and 10 cl. The workshop will be lead by a local expert.

    The workshops take place on Tuesdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (see schedule).

    €47= €39 incl. VAT + €7 (for a half cheese and meat plate per person) per person + €1 for the website fee.

  • Advanced workshops to improve beer tasting skills are for seasoned beer lovers and curious newcomers who already have the basic beer fundamentals. Using a lab kit, you will taste the various defects that are often seen in beer, such as DMS and diacetyl.

    What

    This 2 hour workshop covers the main beer tastes and defects. During, 6 tastes and/or defects  will be analysed and explained by a brewer or experienced home brewer. This workshop is for beer lovers who already have a working knowledge of beer and the brewing process.

    The following flavours and aromas will be studied:

    – 2,3-butanedione: Diacetyl, butter, popcorn

    Dimethyl sulfide: DMS, corn, tomato sauce

     

    – Hydrogen sulfide: Rotten egg

    – Isoamyl acetate: Banana

    – 3-methyl-2-buten-1-thiol: Skunky beer

    – trans-2-Nonene: cardboard, oxidization

    – 2,4,6, trichloroanisole: Mould, damp cellar

    – 4-vinyl guaiacol: Phenolic, cloves

     

    Workshops usually take place every six months.
    Tailor-made workshops are available (min. 10 participants)
